Who we work with

nef consulting works with organisations large and small. Often, we partner to build capacity for organisations to understand and measure their impact, and evolve their activities: to prove and improve.

We have worked with charities, foundations and trusts, as well as public sector agencies, government departments, local authorities and FTSE 350 companies.

Several case studies of our work are written up under each of the service areas listed under Services in the menu, and a selection of ongoing and recent clients are featured below the logo images.

+ Action for Children

nef and Action for Children presented an economic case for the UK government to fund a comprehensive investment programme in preventative services for children and young people. Our SROI analysis, Backing the Future, was launched with a Parliamentary Reception and was the centre-piece of Action for Children's presence at Party Conference in 2009. nef and Action for Children also co-authored a guide to measuring well-being outcomes with young people.

+ Corston Independent Funders Coalition

Following nef's work on women's reoffending, the Corston Independent Funders Coalition appointed nef consulting to work closely with five organisations providing support services for women. Their clients may be involved in prostitution, or have ongoing drug and alcohol problems, for instance. This work forms part of a wider sector case to funders and to government. Recognising the financial challenges faced by organisations like these, the aim of the project was to build capacity within the organisations in each aspect of the Social Return on Investment methodology, from developing a theory of change, to building economic models and reporting findings. The project culminated in a presentation to the Ministry of Justice, National Offender Management Service and CIFC funders after 12 months that highlighted the importance of well-being outcomes. The proejct enabled the organisations to continue to evaluate and report the impact of the their work, independent of consultancy support.

+ International HIV Aids Alliance and value for money of community-based response

Following nef consulting's guidance on undertaking two SROI analyses in India and Zambia, nef consulting was commissioned by the International HIV Aids Alliance to design, facilitate and contribute to technical discussions on understanding and demonstarting the value of community-based HIV/Aids interventions. We co-produced a two-day tecnical meeting in parternship with the UK Consortium on Aids and International Development and the Alliance in 2011, which was attended by the NGOs, World Bank, UN Aids, US Aids, DFID and academics. See the draft technical paperdraft technical paper written by nef consulting on the approaches to measuring community-based initiatives, a full paper will be published in mid 2012.
