Jake joined NEF Consulting in August 2015. He is interested in the application of economic analysis to social and environmental issues to improve the overall relationship between the economy, the environment and society. With several years’ experience in consultancy, he previously worked as an environmental economist with a multinational engineering firm engaged on a wide range of projects for the public and private sector including impact assessment, carbon auditing and the ecosystem services approach.
Jake’s interest in alternative applications of economic principles stems largely from his academic experience earning a BA double major in Economics and Environmental Studies from the University of Victoria, Canada, and a MSc in Ecological Economics from the University of Edinburgh, UK. He is attracted by the opportunity to influence decision making through economic insight in regard to social and environmental challenges, and is especially interested in the applicability to the urban sphere.
Jake was born and raised on the west coast of Canada but has been living in the United Kingdom for over five years between Edinburgh and London. He spends his free time exploring all that London has to offer, travelling further abroad when possible, and being outdoors and active as much as time and British weather permits.
