Brell has conducted substantial qualitative and quantitative research. He has undergone Social Return on Investment (SROI) training, and built SROI models for national charities. He has also built triple bottom line models for public bodies, which have been designed for use by staff for ongoing monitoring. Brell has worked closely with clients to understand their needs and internal resources to produce robust, usable and appropriate tools.
Brell has also worked on several projects developing bespoke tools focused on wellbeing outcomes, including leading on the development of more advanced wellbeing metrics.
He has experience in working closely with clients to ensure that primary data collection on potentially difficult subjects, including mental health and stillbirth, is carried out in an appropriate and sensitive manner.
Brell joined NEF Consulting in May 2016 having spent two years as a researcher in a think tank, working on a range of policy areas including transport, housing and local government service provision. He has a degree in social anthropology from Cambridge and is currently doing a part-time M Res in politics at Birkbeck.
